Freedom of Speech Suspended?

by Jeremy on 25-Feb-2011

With the long awaited launch of the HS2 Public Consultation expected to be announced in Birmingham on Monday (28 February) an astonishing story is flying around: Some prominent anti-HS2 figures who had registered online to attend the event at which the announcement will be made have subsequently had their registrations refused without explanation.

Cameron asks are we happy.  If this government event is being orchestrated to exclude any opposition, it raises the question of whether the consultation itself will be open and honest.  If it is not, it is goodbye freedom of speech, hello despotism.  Should that make us happy?
