Hammond Sees Nimbys Everywhere

by Jeremy on 24-Mar-2011

Good grief.  In an exclusive interview about HS2 with the Metro (Greater London daily paper) on Monday, Philip Hammond “launched his most scathing attack to date” – on nimbys!  Instead of his usual, oft-repeated speech commending HS2 he dismisses all the evidence-based arguments that have been put up against it with, “There is not much more to their argument than Nimbyism”, and “they should be honest that their objection to this project is that it comes through their backyard, it is not a principled objection”.

What a statesman, what a grasp he has of well-crafted reasoning.  (Note to David Cameron: Are you sure you want this man as a Minister of State?)  Read the Metro article.
