Community Forum Breakdown – letter to MP

by Jeremy on 19-Sep-2013

Community Forums were introduced by HS2 Ltd. and, cccording to HS2, they “involve representatives from communities and HS2 Ltd, who meet to: discuss potential ways to avoid and mitigate the environmental impacts of the route, such as screening views of the railway, managing noise and reinstating highways; highlight local priorities for the route design; and identify possible community benefits”.

In the Newton Purcell to Brackley area we have tried, since their inception, to engage with the HS2 representatives running our forum. However, this has proved impossible and now, as the CFs come to an end, North Oxfordshire representatives have been forced to write to MP Sir Tony Baldrey to discuss the lack of any real progress made by what we were led to believe was set up for our benefit.

That letter is attached below and although it does not fully cover all the ways our community has has been misled and let down by the Community Forum we ask you to read it. If you live in an area affected by the HS2 scheme and have suffered similarly with the treatment you have received from your Community Forum HS2 representatives, please write to your MPs about it and by all means use any parts of our letter if they apply to you.
